Roosevelt University Applies for Division II Membership

Collegiate Consulting Assists Roosevelt as it Submits Application for NCAA DII Membership

CHICAGO (Feb. 1, 2023) – Roosevelt University submitted its application to join NCAA Division II beginning in the 2023-24 athletic year.  Collegiate Consulting, who completed Roosevelt’s Intercollegiate Athletic Formation Feasibility Study and Athletic Strategic Plan in 2009 returned to assist Roosevelt with the application and NCAA-mandated DII-specific Athletic Strategic Plan.

In August 2022, Roosevelt received provisional membership to join the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference starting competition in 2024-25, becoming the GLIAC’s 11th member-institution.  Since the 2010-11 year, Roosevelt has been a member of the NAIA and the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Collegiate Consulting has been involved with Roosevelt since the athletic department’s inception.  The firm was retained in the Spring 2009 to complete a comprehensive Athletic Formation Feasibility Study as well as an Athletics Strategic Plan for the program’s initial years.  Subsequently, the firm was brought back in 2010 to assist with an External Revenue Study.

Since the programs inception, Roosevelt University has grown to 23 varsity programs and more than 500 student-athletes.  With the submission of the application and acceptance into Division II, Roosevelt will start the three-year reclassification cycle and become eligible for NCAA postseason starting in 2026-27.

In the past 15 years, Collegiate Consulting has completed 37 DII Feasibility Studies for NAIA and Division III institutions considering reclassification.  Nineteen institutions moved forward with their application, 17 are full DII members, and Collegiate Consulting is assisting the remaining two as they complete their three-year reclassification process.
