Division II Membership Committee Accepts Thomas More; Provisional Year to Begin in Fall

ATLANTA (July 17, 2022) – On Friday, the NCAA Division II Membership Committee accepted three schools into the DII three-year reclassification process, including Thomas More University. This comes after Collegiate Consulting assisted Thomas More with comprehensive DII Feasibility Study and support on its DII Athletic Strategic Plan and Membership Application.

The final report included in-depth analysis of membership in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference, including sponsored sports, operating budgets, student-athlete academic performances, staffing, salaries and a five-year pro-forma. Following an on-campus visit in June of 2021, the University was unanimously approved for provisional membership in the GMAC.

In a release, President Joseph Chillo stated, “As a key strategic initiative in the University’s strategic plan, Lighting the Way, we have spent the better part of the past year assessing this opportunity as we want to ensure that our student-athletes have the very best experience while we enhance the regional position of the University. The decision to join the Great Midwest and apply for NCAA DII membership will greatly assist our efforts as we look to bolster our academic and athletic reputation in the region.”

In the past 15 years, Collegiate Consulting has completed 36 DII Feasibility Studies for NAIA and Division III institutions; and the 17 that have applied for membership within Division II have all been accepted into the membership process.
