STEUBENVILLE, Ohio (June 23, 2022) – Collegiate Consulting is pleased to announce the completion of a comprehensive Intercollegiate Athletics Operational Review for Franciscan University of Steubenville. In a move to assess its current program, with the goal of developing a clear action plan to strengthen and guide Franciscan to further athletic success within Division III, the University engaged Collegiate Consulting to conduct a comprehensive analysis of their athletic operations.
As part of this comprehensive analysis, Collegiate Consulting compiled internal and peer benchmarking data in addition to interviewing more than 50 athletic stakeholders – including administrators, coaches, former and current student-athletes.
The 107-page final assessment included analyses of sport sponsorship, facilities, athletic expectations, the role and value of athletics and the overall student-athlete experience. Also reviewed were organizational and reporting structure, staffing recommendations, net tuition revenue analysis, operational budgets, competitiveness, academic success and sport expansion.
A private Catholic university located in Ohio, Franciscan sponsors 20 sports: Nine men’s teams and 11 women’s programs, in addition to a robust intramural program. After transitioning from the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) in July 2020, the Barons currently compete as members of the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC).
