Collegiate Consulting Assists Dixie State with Completion of Division I Strategic Plan

ST. GEORGE, Utah (March 26, 2020) – As Dixie State University moves toward Division I and starting membership within the Western Athletic Conference on July 1, 2020, Collegiate Consulting has just completed working with DSU on its Division I Strategic Plan, which is an application requirement for the June 1, 2020 application deadline.   Previously, Collegiate Consulting had assisted DSU with its Division I Feasibility Study, presenting it to the institution in October 2018.

The Division I plan, which will take DSU through the four-year membership process and its first year as a full Division I member has seven strategic priorities.  Those are Divisional Membership & Conference Affiliation; Student-Athlete Experience & Welfare; Program & Fiscal Integrity; Personnel; Competitive Success; Facilities and Community Engagement

Since the institution’s announcement in January 2019 that it would move to Division I and membership in the WAC beginning in the 2020-21 season, the athletic department has taken significant steps in preparation for year one.  The department has hired new coaches and administrators.  Dixie State will transition two coaches from part-time to full-time; hire 10 new coaches and 10 new administrative positions.  Financial aid is projected to increase by 72 scholarships over the next five years with the overall budget will increase by approximately $5 million by FY26.  The Human Performance Center opened in Fall 2019; and athletics is moving forward with upgrades to Zion Stadium and Burns Arena as well as refurbishment of the softball facility.
