Collegiate Consulting Assists University of West Florida with Reclassification to Division I

PENSACOLA, FL (April 2, 2026) – Collegiate Consulting is proud to support the University of West Florida (UWF) as it makes the transition to Division I and accepts an invitation to join the ASUN Conference. Beginning with the 2026-27 school year, as part of the reimagined ASUN, UWF will become the eighth full-time member.

Collegiate Consulting initially started working with UWF in 2009, providing the institution with a comprehensive benchmarking comparison. In 2013, Collegiate Consulting conducted a comprehensive Football Feasibility and assisted with the football head coaching search prior to their inaugural season in 2016. UWF brought Collegiate Consulting back in 2019 to assist with an Athletics Strategic Plan and in 2022 for a comprehensive operational review. In July 2025, Collegiate Consulting completed a Division I Feasibility Study with a focus on both the ASUN/UAC and Southern Conference.

Collegiate Consulting is currently assisting UWF with their DI Membership Application and DI Strategic Plan, which is due on June 1, 2025. The Argonauts will attain full Division I membership in 2029-30 following the NCAA-mandated reclassification period.

“This analysis provides a comprehensive framework for evaluating strategic options,” said Russell Wright of Collegiate Consulting. “It equips the University of West Florida with the data and context needed to make informed decisions regarding divisional reclassification, conference alignment, resource allocation, and long-term athletics positioning within the ASUN Conference.”
