Roosevelt & Shawnee State Advance in NCAA Division II Membership Process

ATLANTA (July 13, 2026) The NCAA Division II Membership Committee approved Roosevelt University for full membership and accepted Shawnee State University into the two-year expedited membership process.

Roosevelt University is one of six institutions scheduled to become full NCAA Division II members on September 1. Roosevelt began reclassification in 2023 with support from Collegiate Consulting. Shawnee State, is reclassifying from the NAIA, was accepted into the expedited membership process at the committee’s February meeting. This process grants full membership in two years instead of the standard three-year period.

“We are proud to see Roosevelt and Shawnee State reach these important milestones in their Division II applications,” said Russell Wright, Founder & Managing Director of Collegiate Consulting. “Over the past 20 years, we have had 23 partners successfully navigate Division II reclassification.”

Collegiate Consulting supported Roosevelt University with its Division II Application, NCAA Site Visit and annual requirements. Roosevelt joined the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference for the 2023-24 academic year. Collegiate Consulting completed Shawnee State’s DII Feasibility Study in November 2024.
