Roosevelt University, based in Chicago, submitted its application to join NCAA Division II beginning in the 2023-24 athletic year. Collegiate Consulting has been involved with Roosevelt since the athletic department’s inception, having completed Roosevelt’s Intercollegiate Athletic Formation Feasibility Study and Athletic Strategic Plan in 2009, and reuniting to assist Roosevelt with the application and an NCAA-mandated DII-specific Athletic Strategic Plan.
After receiving provisional membership to join the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in August 2022, Roosevelt began looking to start competition in 2024-25 – becoming the GLIAC’s 11th member-institution. Roosevelt has been a member of the NAIA and the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference since the 2010-11 season.
With the readjustment of returning to regular class schedules, traveling and competing in sports, student-athletes are getting into the groove of a somewhat normal schedules again.
With worries affecting SAs and college athletic departments, such as leadership alterations, conference transitions and sports sponsorship changes, Collegiate Consulting seeks to help the overall institution, and not only the athletic side. In order to bridge cross-campus divides and enhance entire programs, we have to take every aspect into account.
With most eyes focusing on college basketball in the coming weeks, we are reminded of the words of former Duke University Coach Mike Krzyzewski, “A common mistake among those who work in sport is spending a disproportional amount of time on ‘x’s and o’s’ as compared to time spent learning about people.”
As Collegiate Consulting continues to partner with institutions of varying size and conference competition level, we are excited to explore opportunities for each new and existing client. There are several moving pieces to research and analyze that give our university partners an expanded perspective for potential excellence.
We thrive on connection with our college athletic community and we seek to champion their notable actions and achievements.
Please follow us so we can celebrate and elevate each other together.
