CARROLLTON, Ga. (March 25, 2021) – Since the beginning of December 2020, Collegiate Consulting has been working with the University of West Georgia on the search to hire the Wolves’ next Director of Athletics. After the three-month search, the University of West Georgia is set to hire Jason Carmichael as the next Director of Athletics.
The search began with one of Collegiate Consulting’s largest and most qualified group of applicants. After receiving 94 applications, UWG narrowed the initial pool to 20 candidates. Over the course of three days in February, 11 Zoom interviews were conducted to determine the final four, which were brough on-campus for in-person interviews.
Carmichael is currently the Director of Athletics at California State University-East Bay and has held the position since early 2017. Prior to this position, he was the AD at Western Colorado University for three years. With years of experience in college athletics, the University of West Georgia is confident Carmichael will assist with the implementation of the “Becoming UWG” Strategic Plan and ushering in a new era of athletics at the University of West Georgia.
