SAN RAMON, CA (June 26, 2018) – The California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) has hired Mitch Cox as its commissioner after a national search. The CCAA utilized Collegiate Consulting, an Atlanta-based consulting firm, for the search.
Collegiate Consulting worked closely with Dr. Tomas D. Morales, president of California State University, San Bernardino and chair of the CCAA selection committee to cultivate a broad pool of applicants and provide support throughout the selection process. Additionally, the firm helped with development and distribution of the job description as well as candidate review.
“We were very pleased to have Collegiate Consulting work with us on this important hire,” Morales said. “We had a very deep pool of applicants that Collegiate Consulting cultivated and a very thorough process. That culminated with hiring Mitch Cox, who had done an admirable job as our interim commissioner and will lead our conference moving forward.”
Cox had held the position of interim commissioner since December 2017. Prior to that, he was the Associate Director of Athletics at Chico State for more than 15 years.
“We enjoyed working with President Morales and the entire CCAA selection committee on this hire,” said Russell Wright, Collegiate Consulting Managing Director. “We had a deep candidate pool and it highlighted the work that Mitch Cox had done as the interim commissioner.”
Collegiate Consulting has worked with more than 500 institutions since its inception in 2005.
