ATLANTA (April 15, 2024) – In the past eight weeks, Collegiate Consulting has completed two multi-divisional compliance reviews for Division II and Division III institutions, which have sports that compete at Division I. The institutions and respective sports that retained Collegiate Consulting were Johns Hopkins University (M/W Lacrosse) and Lake Superior State University (M-Ice Hockey).
Per NCAA Bylaw, Article 20.4.4, “once every four years, an active multi-divisional institution must complete a compliance review conducted by an independent third-party.” Currently, 30 Division II and Division III institutions have a sport(s) participating at the Division I level.
The review is an extensive process, involving a comprehensive assessment of the following: academic support, organizational structure, institutional control, rules, education, eligibility and student-athlete certification, financial aid, recruitment and monitoring of student-athletes, administration of camps and clinics, extra benefits and amateurism, playing and practice seasons, and student-athlete welfare.
Previously, Collegiate Consulting has completed multidivisional studies for Bemidji State University, Lake Superior State University; Minnesota State University, Mankato and the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Of all the multidivisional institutions, Collegiate Consulting has completed reviews for 20 percent.
