Le Moyne goes Division I

Collegiate Consulting Feasibility Study Assists Le Moyne with Move to Division I & NEC

ATLANTA (May 10, 2023) – Collegiate Consulting is proud to support Le Moyne College as it makes the transition to Division I and accepts an invitation to join the Northeast Conference. Effective July 1, Le Moyne will officially begin its four-year reclassification process to become a Division I institution.

Retained in January 2022, Collegiate Consulting produced an initial Benchmarking Study in April 2022 and the comprehensive Division I Feasibility Study in August.

The 175-page feasibility study included on-campus interviews with students, coaches, alumni and institutional leadership. The report provided an inclusive comparison to the NEC, America East and Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. To review the final report and fully explore all Division I opportunities, Le Moyne formed an ad hoc committee in June 2022.

Collegiate Consulting projected Le Moyne’s current athletic budget of $7.5 million would witness a 58% increase by FY2028. Student-athlete financial aid increases from 77 scholarships to more than 105. Collegiate Consulting recommended a $500,000 increase across Le Moyne’s 21 sports. For athletic staffing, it was proposed to add eight new administrative positions with seven new assistant coach positions and transition eight part-time coaching positions to full-time.

In the past five years, Collegiate Consulting has assisted Merrimack College, Stonehill College and now Le Moyne in their reclassification from the Northeast-10 Conference to Division I and the NEC. Overall, Collegiate Consulting has completed 15 Division I Feasibility Studies in the past 36 months, including Bellarmine, Tarleton State, North Alabama, Utah Tech and Queens at Charlotte, which is currently in the reclassification process. Currently, Collegiate Consulting is actively engaged in six Division I Feasibility Studies.
