TALLAHASSE, FL (June 5, 2020) – As part of Florida A&M University’s examination of conference membership and June 4 announcement of its intention to move from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference and join the Southwestern Athletic Conference effective for 2021-22, Collegiate Consulting completed a comprehensive conference benchmarking analysis to assist FAMU.
Elements of the study included athletic and sports operating budget comparisons; administrative/coaching staffing & salaries; scholarship comparisons; sports sponsorship; travel analysis; competitiveness; institutional comparison and source of revenue analysis for the Atlantic Sun Conference, MEAC and SWAC. It was projected the move from the MEAC to the SWAC would save FAMU approximately $400,000 in travel expenditures for its sports programs.
