Collegiate Consulting Sports Sponsorship Study Leads to Clark Atlanta University Launching Women’s Golf

ATLANTA (March 17, 2026) – Clark Atlanta University has announced the addition of women’s golf as the institution’s 11th varsity sport following completion of a comprehensive Sports Sponsorship Study conducted by Collegiate Consulting. The Panthers will begin recruiting student-athletes in spring 2026 ahead of the inaugural spring 2026-27 season.

“Launching women’s golf at Clark Atlanta University represents more than the addition of a new sport—it represents opportunity.” Said Dr. Jerel Drew, Director of Athletics “Being the only HBCU in Atlanta with a women’s golf program positions us to open doors for young women who aspire to compete, lead, and succeed in spaces where they have historically been underrepresented. This program reflects our commitment to growth, equity, and providing our student-athletes with access to opportunities that extend well beyond the course.”

As part of the engagement, Collegiate Consulting conducted a multi-sport feasibility analysis that evaluated the opportunity for three potential new varsity programs, including women’s golf, men’s golf and men’s track & field.

The study examined conference alignment within the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and Peach Belt Conference, analyzed recruiting participation data at the state and national levels, benchmarked operating and start-up budgets, assessed facilities requirements, and modeled projected a five-year pro-forma and net tuition revenue impacts to support CAU’s long-term growth strategy.
