EMPORIA, KS – (May 4, 2023) –Collegiate Consulting has been assisting Emporia State University with its search to hire the Hornet’s next Head Women’s Basketball Coach. After a five-week search, ESU named Brian Ostermann as its new Head Women’s Basketball Coach on April 28th.
Collegiate Consulting received more than 40 applicants for the position, with ESU conducting Zoom interviews the third week and April; and on-campus interviews for the finalists at the end of April.
Ostermann is currently the Associate Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Kansas State University and has 35 years of experience in intercollegiate athletics. Since 2014, he has served as K-State’s Associate Head Women’s Basketball Coach and previously worked as an Associate Head Coach for Texas Christian University. Prior to his work in women’s basketball, Ostermann held the Head Men’s Basketball position at Missouri Plains and the Assistant Men’s Coach position at the University of Missouri – Kansas City and Missouri Western State University. Ostermann’s first day and introductory press conference will be on May 2.
ESU’s Athletic Director David Spafford commented, “Coach Ostermann brings a wealth of experience to Emporia State. Knowing him as a person in addition to his experience at several levels and his ties to the state of Kansas and the MIAA really met our goals in the search process and for the program. We had an excellent candidate pool and Collegiate Consulting had a well-organized search strategy that was seamlessly executed.”
