SPRINGFIELD, Missouri – Earlier this month, Missouri State University President Clif Smart met with the Bears football team and told players that he sensed a renewed buzz and anticipation about the season.
“I hear people talking about football,” Smart said, “and while there may still be a little skepticism, I think the interest is heightened.”
Ticket sales offer up confirmation. MSU opens the season at 6 p.m. today against Northwestern State at Plaster Sports Complex, and season ticket sales are 1,350. That’s the highest mark since 1,390 were sold in 2008.
