Collegiate Consulting Examines Potential New Sports For William Carey

Collegiate Consulting completed a comprehensive Feasibility Study focusing on football and new women’s sports for William Carey University. The report detailed start-up costs, travel, facilities, student-athlete financial aid, operating budgets, coaching and administrative staffing and salaries as well as a timeline for implementing new sports.

The 81-page study included women’s lacrosse and women’s flag football as the potential new women’s sports. Collegiate Consulting examined the opportunity to add these three sports and compete in two divisions: Division II and NAIA with benchmarking for the Gulf South Conference (football and women’s lacrosse), the Appalachian Athletic Conference (football) and the Sun Conference (flag football).

The Crusaders sponsor 18 intercollegiate varsity sports in the NAIA, primarily competing in the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC).

What's the Word?

With winter sports practicing and fall sports championships on the horizon, athletic departments face the burden of a delicate balancing act in resource allocation.

Access to workout and practice facilities, optimum nutrition on the road and those ever-important training staffs, can make or break the end of a season. Travel, during a vital part of the semester, also tests coaches and support staffs to find middle ground between classwork and athletic performance. And with conferences expanding beyond previous geographic footprints, coordination has become essential.

Successful student-athletes have always benefitted from more resources; and Collegiate Consulting understands the hard work it takes to make sure every team benefits.
