Canisius College has released the executive summary of an athletic operational review conducted by Collegiate Consulting.
The purpose of this review was to evaluate Canisius athletics from all stakeholders’ views, determine options for next steps and provide recommendations.
After being retained by Canisius, Collegiate Consulting engaged in the first phase of interviews with stakeholders that were significant to the athletic department at Canisius. Collegiate Consulting’s research included 14 focus groups – with 140 stakeholders – which included Canisius student-athletes, alumni, former student-athletes, coaches, trustees, support staff, donors, students, professors and administration.
The second phase included follow-up interviews and a survey sent to students, whereas the third installment of the report was benchmarking data gathered on academic success, financial budgets, athletic success, facility research, enrollment trends, net revenue, roster management, staffing and salaries, sport sponsorship, emerging sports and more.
Just only weeks into the Fall semester, several schools are looking to replace coaches and key or interim athletic administrators. Whether looking ahead due to impending retirements or out of need for course-correction, these searches are arduous and require both inside institutional insight and an outside eye.
