West Georgia Invited to ASUN with Assist from Collegiate Consulting

Collegiate Consulting congratulates the University of West Georgia on its acceptance of the invitation to join the ASUN Conference and make the transition to Division I.

After being retained in December 2022, Collegiate Consulting created a 266-page feasibility study which was delivered to UWG in February 2023. The report provided a comprehensive comparison to the ASUN, Ohio Valley Conference and Southland Conference. The Feasibility Study marks the eighth time Collegiate Consulting has worked with UWG, including a previous Division I Feasibility Study in 2012.

In the past five years, Collegiate Consulting has assisted Bellarmine University, Queen University of Charlotte, University of North Alabama, Stonehill College and now UWG with their Division I Feasibility Study and invitation to join the ASUN. Overall, Collegiate Consulting has completed 18 Division I Feasibility Studies in the past 36 months, including Stonehill, Tarleton State, Utah Tech and Cal Baptist. Currently, Collegiate Consulting is actively engaged in four Division I Feasibility Studies.

What's the Word

While money and exposure are always incentives when an institute is looking at a conference or divisional change, there are several other impacts to the student-athlete experience.

Collegiate Consulting delves deep into these other aspects in its Feasibility Studies. Along with interviews, focus groups and surveys of the full realm of the university community (not just sports), our staff researches geographic footprints and the travel times by air and bus, budgets, as they pertain to student-athletes’ meals, accommodations and training and a somewhat new and definitely important component: sports psychology and mental health resources.

There is no bottom line when it comes to the cost of success, but here at Collegiate Consulting, we work to present a broad picture of what could culminate in an athletic department’s best options for the entire university.

Consideration for Conference/ Divisional Moves Continue

The time for operational review and conference movement never ceases, not even during the thick of competitive play.

As Collegiate Consulting continues to partner with institutions of varying size and conference competition level, we are excited to explore opportunities for each new and existing client. There are several moving pieces to research and analyze that give our university partners an expanded perspective for potential excellence.

We thrive on connection with our college athletic community and we seek to champion their notable actions and achievements.

Please follow us so we can celebrate and elevate each other together.
